The Farm

We never spray chemicals. Never will. We are dedicated to growing great organic food the old fashioned way. By hand, with love and without chemicals. Root Bottom Farm grows high-quality, organic specialty crops including: microgreens, root vegetables, fruit, berries and annual vegetables.

We are not open to the public except during special events. We are a working farm and we live here full time. Please respect this request.

Root Bottom products can be enjoyed at the West Asheville Market every Tuesday from 3:30-6:30 on Haywood Rd and at the Brevard Market every Saturday 8-12 in downtown Brevard.

The Farmers

Root Bottom Farm is owned and loved by Morgan, Sarah and Josephine Decker. Started in 2011, our small farm is located in the mountains of Madison County, NC just outside of Asheville, NC.  Morgan has been farming full-time since 2008 in Vermont, Utah and now North Carolina. When not farming, Sarah is a working artist and a Professor of Photography and Graphic Design at Mars Hill University and AB Tech Community College.

When we aren't deep in the dirt you can find us going on long distance bike tours, hiking the Appalachian Trail, paddling our raft or skiing big mountains out West. We swear we get some of our best planning meetings done on a bike. Together we have biked over 3,000 miles including : from our farm to Key West, the entire Blue Ridge Parkway, Natchez Trace Parkway, Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal. Love life.
